Our team of 100+ is based across London, Oxford, San Sebastián and Sydney, with our primary hub in Islington (London). We are looking for a Senior Electrical Characterisation Engineer to join our Process Integration team and play a key role in understanding, qualifying and improving the silicon devices at the heart of our quantum processors. You will sit at a fascinating intersection between semiconductor manufacturing and quantum hardware, working closely with foundries, process engineers and quantum engineers. You will use electrical characterisation and large-scale data analysis to understand manufacturing variability, identify the root causes of device behaviour, and feed those insights directly back into the semiconductor fabrication process. This is an opportunity to have a tangible impact on the yield, quality and scalability of quantum processors, working with some of the most advanced silicon technology being developed for quantum computing. Functions of the Role Drive electrical characterisation of fabricated silicon devices , developing and continuously improving high-throughput screening methods to assess key device parameters including threshold voltage, gate oxide reliability and channel mobility. Turn electrical data into manufacturing insight , identifying patterns, variability and device failures and connecting them back to semiconductor process steps such as photolithography, etching, oxide growth, CMP and doping. Develop automated measurement and test infrastructure , creating robust Python-based test routines and instrument-control workflows across room-temperature and, where appropriate, low-temperature wafer probing environments. Analyse large-scale electrical datasets using statistical process control, yield analysis and other data-driven techniques to monitor wafer uniformity, defect density and process drift. Work directly with semiconductor foundries and process engineers , providing clear, actionable feedback that can be used to improve device performance, consistency and yield.
