About the APAC Risk team The APAC Risk team helps Stripe launch and grow products responsibly across a diverse and rapidly evolving region. We work closely with global and regional partners across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Partnerships, and Risk to identify emerging risks, define practical controls, and make risk decisions easier to execute at scale. The team supports Stripe’s growth in APAC by combining deep regional context with strong analytical judgment. We assess how fraud patterns, payment methods, user behavior, market structures, and regulatory expectations vary across countries. We use those insights to build strategies that protect Stripe and the broader payments ecosystem while preserving a strong experience for legitimate users. What you’ll do As a Fraud Strategist on the APAC Risk team, you will be responsible for identifying and reducing transaction and merchant fraud across Stripe’s products and markets in the region. You will monitor the health of Stripe’s APAC portfolio, investigate emerging threats, and build scalable strategies that reduce losses without creating unnecessary friction for legitimate businesses. You will work on complex and fast moving problems where the available information is often incomplete and fraud patterns evolve quickly. Your work may range from investigating an anomalous fraud trend to designing a regional control, defining a model feature, improving a manual review workflow, or shaping the risk approach for a new product, payment method, or country launch. Responsibilities • Monitor transaction and merchant fraud trends across APAC and investigate anomalous behavior at the merchant, account, and transaction level. • Define, build, and maintain regional fraud health metrics. Set targets, identify material changes, and communicate the drivers of performance. • Develop short and long term fraud strategies for APAC markets, products, and payment methods. Translate investigations into clear controls, product requirements, model improvements, and operational actions. • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, Partnerships, and other Risk teams to scope, prioritize, and deliver fraud mitigation work. • Assess fraud risks for new country, product, and local payment method launches. Define mitigations before launch and monitor outcomes after launch. • Balance fraud loss, user experience, operational cost, conversion, and growth when recommending or implementing controls. • Improve and automate fraud risk workflows through data, internal tools, and agent based solutions where these can increase consistency, speed, or coverage. • Work with users and external partners when needed to explain fraud risks, improve controls, and support a healthy payments ecosystem. • Produce clear regional reporting for senior stakeholders, risk governance forums, and other internal audiences.
