About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic is hiring a Health and Safety Specialist to lead the day-to-day H&S work at our San Francisco headquarters and across our broader US footprint. As Anthropic continues to scale, we need someone in the room — operating our health and safety programs, responding to what comes up, and being the trusted face of H&S for our employees. We're looking for someone who's spent their career doing the hands-on work of occupational health and safety — running inspections, investigating incidents, managing cases through to closure, supporting committees and emergency response teams, and getting employees engaged in the programs we run. This is a tactical, execution-focused role: you'll operate the programs we have, contribute to the ones we're building, and free up the EHS Lead to focus on the broader strategy and the specialty environments (biolabs, data centers, robotics) that need dedicated attention. You won't be doing this alone. You'll partner closely with the EHS Lead, with our Workplace, Security, HR, and Legal teams in SF, and with cross-functional partners at our other US offices. As we expand the broader Global Safety and Intelligence Services team, you'll have peers around you to collaborate with on shared work. Responsibilities You'll run the regular cadence of onsite H&S work at our San Francisco office — inspections, hazard and risk assessments, ergonomics program activities, and follow-through on the findings. You'll investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses, and you'll manage occupational health cases through their full lifecycle — from initial report through return-to-work and closure — coordinating with our occupational health providers, HR, and Legal partners. You'll also own OSHA recordkeeping for our US sites, including the annual 300/300A process. You'll be the in-the-room face of H&S for our SF employees and partners. That means facilitating and supporting our health and safety committee and volunteer emergency response team in SF — running meetings, coordinating drills, and following through on action items — and supporting similar work at our other US sites. You'll deliver and coordinate H&S training across our US offices — keeping our training calendar current, running sessions where helpful, and partnering with vendors and internal teams where it makes sense. You'll manage H&S vendor relationships (occupational health, ergonomics, training, audit) and engage with landlords, building management, and contractors to make sure shared environments are safe and meet our standards. You'll keep our H&S documentation, registers, and reporting systems accurate and current, and you'll contribute to the broader H&S programs the EHS Lead is building — sharing what you're seeing in the field, helping pilot new programs at SF, and bringing tactical know-how to standards work as it comes up. You may be a good fit if you • Have 7+ years of experience in a similar hands-on H&S role, ideally with time spent operating H&S programs day-to-day • Have strong working knowledge of US federal OSHA and California Title 8 (Cal/OSHA) requirements; familiarity with other US states (Washington, New York) is a plus • Are comfortable being the H&S expert in the room — translating regulatory requirements into clear decisions, and pushing back when something isn't safe • Are passionate about workplace H&S, and brin
