About the Role: We are seeking a talented and motivated Payroll, Compensation & Benefits Intern who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement. As an intern on the People Operations team, you will work directly with the Senior Director of Payroll & Benefits, gaining hands-on exposure to multi-country payroll operations, compensation administration, and benefits management across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This is a learning-focused role designed to develop the next generation of People Operations talent at Sezzle, with a clear pathway for full-time conversion based on performance. What You’ll Do: • Support end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries (US, Canada, Colombia), including data entry, reconciliation, and documentation. • Assist with benefits enrollment, terminations, and employee lifecycle changes in our HRIS and benefits platforms. • Perform data quality checks across payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems to identify and resolve discrepancies. • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and benefits audits, including preparing supporting documentation and reconciling variances. • Assist with compensation research and benchmarking, including compiling market data for the annual compensation review cycle. • Help manage vendor invoices, track reconciliations, and prepare payment requests for payroll and benefits providers. • Maintain employee files and records in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction. • Support compliance workstreams, including ERISA, ACA, FLSA and Colombian labor law, through data preparation and documentation. • Act as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits and compensation • Document and map payroll, compensation, and benefits processes to identify automation and efficiency opportunities. • Support the administration of employee leave of absences, disability claims and COBRA • Participate in AI and automation initiatives within the People Operations function, including testing new tools and contributing to process improvements. • Assist in the collection and filing of payroll and benefit tax forms • Support ad-hoc People Operations projects as they relate to Sezzle's growth, Utah Industrial Loan Company (ILC) bank charter readiness, and international expansion.
