Auth Engineer — Users & Auth We're looking for an Auth Engineer to own, architect, and build the systems that define how users exist and move within Clara's platform — authentication, authorization, identity, and access control. This is one of those roles where the work is invisible when it's done right and critical when it's not. The scope is deep and end-to-end: architecting the identity layer, designing auth flows, managing the user lifecycle, integrating Auth0 with Clara's platform, and making sure the frontend and backend sides of identity speak the same language. You'll be the person the rest of engineering turns to when there's an auth question no one else can answer. Security isn't a checklist here — it's a first-class concern baked into how we build. We move fast and trust our engineers to own outcomes end-to-end. That means autonomy to make decisions, proactivity to surface problems before they become blockers, and the attitude to push initiatives across the finish line without waiting to be told what to do. Your responsibilities will include: • Designing and building the identity and access layer that Clara's apps rely on across products — making it work end-to-end and hold up as the platform grows, in close partnership with the team's tech lead • Owning auth end-to-end: architecture, implementation, and Auth0 integration across frontend and backend • Designing and hardening auth flows and the full user lifecycle • Being a strong reference on identity and access for the rest of engineering — a go-to for the hard auth problems that block other teams • Setting and holding the security and quality bar on identity-critical paths through code reviews and design reviews • Partnering with the team's tech lead and with product on the feasibility of auth-heavy initiatives, and spotting where AI tooling can close work that would otherwise take months Who you are • 4+ years of software engineering experience with solid execution in production environments • 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing authentication and authorization on a modern identity platform — experience with Auth0 specifically is preferred, comparable platforms is also welcome; IAM depth is a strong plus • Full-stack engineering with your strength on the backend. We work primarily in Java and Spring on the backend and React on the frontend — depth in those is a plus, but we care more about strong fundamentals and how fast you ramp than about years in any one stack • Deep understanding of security best practices for web applications and secure
